Service Fee Structure

Bigger orders get a better rate, automatically.

Sample Stage

Flat rate

Per sample, covering supplier coordination and physical inspection. No commitment to bulk.

Best for buyers qualifying a new category or supplier before committing to any MOQ. Payment held in escrow until you approve the sample. Sample cost credited against your first bulk order.

Standard Orders

15% service fee

Orders $2,000 – $8,000. Applied on ex-works value — supplier match, QC, and full export documentation included.

No hidden markups — the 15% is itemised on your invoice. Orders under $2,000 are quoted at 18% to cover the higher per-order coordination cost on smaller runs.

Volume Orders

10–12% service fee

Orders above $8,000. Rate reduces automatically — no negotiation needed.

$8,000 – $25,000: 12% fee. Above $25,000: 10% fee. The applicable rate is calculated and shown in your quote and itemised on your invoice.

All fees are applied on ex-works value and quoted before you commit — no post-order adjustments. The cost estimator and landed cost tool above apply your tier automatically.

Authenticity

Several of these crafts are legally protected — not just marketed as traditional.

Banarasi Silk — GI Tagged Kanjivaram Silk — GI Tagged Chanderi — GI Tagged Kota Doria — GI Tagged Bagru & Ajrakh Block Print — GI Tagged

Shipping & Customs

What duties and trade rules apply to your destination.

Last checked June 2026 — trade rules for India have moved fast over the past year. Confirm the current rate with a licensed customs broker before finalizing your landed cost; this is a starting point, not a quote.

🇺🇸 United States

De minimisSuspended (Aug 2025) — all shipments dutiable
Duty (per Feb 2026 deal)~18%, plus possible additional tariffs
TrendVolatile — renegotiated twice in 12 months
No duty-free threshold remains for any shipment value. Rates have shifted from 50% to 18% within the past year and a further increase has been proposed — get a current quote from your broker, not a number from any website.

🇬🇧 United Kingdom

DCTS preferenceSuspended for textiles, Jan 2026–2028
Current treatmentStandard UK Global Tariff (UKGT)
Watch forUK–India CETA, signed 2025, may restore benefits in 2026
India's preferential rate on garments and textiles was suspended at the start of 2026. The new UK–India trade deal could reduce this again later in the year — worth re-checking before you commit to a destination price.

🇪🇺 European Union

GSP preferenceWithdrawn for most goods, Jan 2026
Current treatmentStandard MFN duty (textiles ~9–12%)
Watch forEU–India FTA talks ongoing, not yet concluded
87% of Indian exports to the EU lost preferential access at the start of 2026. Clothing that paid a discounted GSP rate now pays the full MFN duty.

🇦🇪 UAE / GCC

CEPA preferenceActive since May 2022
Duty0% on most cotton, silk & synthetic textile categories
2026 updateLive digital CoO verification (ICEGATE ↔ Dubai Trade)
Currently the most favourable and stable of these seven destinations for Indian textile exports.

🇦🇺 Australia

ECTA preferenceFull zero-duty access from Jan 2026
Duty0% on qualifying textile categories
NoteImproved from phased reductions in prior years
Australia moved to complete tariff-free access for Indian goods at the start of 2026 — one of the better destinations right now.

🇨🇦 Canada

Preferential agreementNone currently in force with India
DutyStandard MFN rate applies
De minimis (courier)CAD 20 for non-US/Mexico shipments
Canada's de minimis threshold is unusually low — most commercial shipments go through full customs entry regardless of value.

🇸🇬 Singapore

CECA preferenceIn force since 2005
DutyGenerally favourable / low under CECA terms
GSTApplies at import, separate from duty
One of the more stable agreements on this list — still worth confirming current treatment for your specific HS code before shipping.

All seven of these have moved in the past 18 months. We'll flag anything destination-specific at the brief stage — but a licensed customs broker in your own country is who should confirm the number you actually pay.

Escrow Protection

Payment held until your QC sign-off.

Your payment is held in escrow and released to the supplier only after our team confirms quality — you're never paying in advance for goods you haven't approved.

Each order is physically inspected before it leaves India. Non-compliant goods are reworked or rejected — you only receive what passes inspection.

Full documentation is handled and shared digitally with every order, so customs clearance on your end is straightforward.

Dedicated Manager

One contact, brief to delivery.

Founders

Ashish Syal & Manish Syal

Co-Founders, Artico Exports — based in Mumbai, India.

Every brief is personally reviewed before it reaches a supplier. That accountability runs directly through two named people — not an anonymous team or support queue.

Before You Wire Money

Questions every international buyer asks

What happens if quality fails inspection?

The order is reworked or refunded before any funds are released from escrow — you're not liable for goods that don't pass QC.

What are the payment terms?

A deposit secures your production slot; the balance is due once our team confirms the goods have passed inspection, before shipment. Both payments are protected by escrow — funds are never released to the supplier until you approve quality.

What Incoterms do you quote under?

FOB (Indian port) by default. CIF and DDP are available on request — ask your dedicated manager to compare landed cost for your destination.

Who's responsible for import duties and customs in my country?

We handle Indian export clearance and documentation. Import duties and customs clearance at destination are the buyer's responsibility — we'll flag anything country-specific during your brief.

Do Indian holidays affect lead times?

Major periods like Diwali and regional festivals can extend production by several days. Your dedicated manager flags this upfront if it affects your timeline.

What currencies and payment methods do you accept?

We invoice in USD, EUR, GBP, or AED depending on your market, and accept international wire transfer. Ask about other options for your region.

How does escrow actually work?

You pay into an independently held escrow account — funds are held by a third-party escrow service, not by Artico or the supplier. Once our QC team inspects and approves the goods, you sign off and funds are released. If anything fails QC, the order is reworked or funds are returned to you. At no point does the supplier receive payment before your sign-off. Escrow details are shared at the brief stage so you can verify the arrangement before committing.

What happens after I submit a sourcing brief?

A member of our team personally reviews your brief within 4 business hours. We reach out by email or WhatsApp to clarify anything, then send you 3–5 matched supplier proposals — each with video factory tours, certifications, capacity, and pricing. You choose which (if any) to proceed with and can request a sample before committing to the full MOQ.

Can I order samples before placing a full order?

Yes — always. We don't require you to commit to a bulk order without approving a sample first. You pay sample cost only. If you proceed to a full order, the sample cost is credited back.

What is a GI (Geographical Indication) tag?

A GI tag is an official Indian government certification confirming that a product genuinely originates from a specific region and follows its traditional production methods. Banarasi silk, Kanjivaram, Chanderi, Kota Doria, and Bagru/Ajrakh block print all carry GI status — it's legally protected and verifiable. This matters if your own customers ask for proof of authentic regional origin.

How are your service fees structured?

We charge a tiered service fee on the ex-works value — applied automatically based on order size: 18% for orders under $2,000, 15% for $2,000–$8,000, 12% for $8,000–$25,000, and 10% above $25,000. The fee is itemised on your invoice and covers supplier matching, physical QC, and full export documentation. There are no hidden markups on the goods price itself.

Do you work with buyers placing their first-ever order from India?

Yes — and we're designed for exactly that. International buyers unfamiliar with Indian textile sourcing are our primary audience. Your dedicated manager walks you through each step, explains every document, and flags anything you'd otherwise have to discover the hard way.

What documentation do you provide with each order?

Every order includes a GST invoice, shipping bill, and Certificate of Origin (CoO). These are shared digitally before the goods leave India, so your customs broker has everything they need before the shipment arrives.
